Message

"Missing - Unsupported hardware revision" error for the TSC-55w-G2 touch screen controller.

Definition

In early 2020, the QSC supplier for the TSC-55w-G2 displays had to source a new display for these touch screens.  The selected display uses a slightly different controller compared to previous hardware. The subsequent change has forced a modification in Q-SYS Designer to support the new controller.

QSC now requires that all TSC-55w-G2s manufactured after the introduction of the new display be used with Q-SYS Designer 8.3.0 or later.

The TSC-55w-G2 will show in Q-SYS Configurator, as with other TSC-55w-G2 units. The device Name and IP Address are still configurable using the older Q-SYS version. However, if you try to deploy a design file to a system that contains a TSC-55w-G2 with a newer display, this error message appears in the Status block of the affected hardware:

Tip

QSC has placed the following notice inside the packaging of the TSC-55w-G2 to inform users that the unit requires Q-SYS Designer v8.3.0 or later:

Solution | Workaround

We recommend upgrading your system to the latest firmware version available. In doing so, this will allow the TSC-55w-G2 to be added to the new or existing system and that system will have all the latest fixes.

What happens if the system cannot be updated to Q-SYS Designer v8.3.0 or later and a replacement TSC-55w-G2 is required?

There are circumstances where some facilities have locked down the Q-SYS system to a specific software version. Due to internal policies, they are unable to upgrade beyond a specific build. In such circumstances, QSC will have a limited B-stock of TSC-55w-G2s for use as replacement hardware that are compliant with the older Q-SYS Designer builds.
