Learn how to resolve issues with the NV-21-HU Decoder block not displaying as a Named Component in the Block Controller.

Affected Products

Hardware Model/Series NV-21-HU
Software QDS 9.8.2 and newer

Problem | Symptoms

When using block controller, if you add an NV-21-HU, configure it as “decoder”, drag it's “AV I/O Decoder” block into the design and enable script access, the “Named Component” option does not show up and there is no way to access any controls of the NV-21-HU block.

Causes | Verification

This is expected behavior. Unlike most components where you simply enable “Script Access” and the component is available in block controller, the NV decoder is an exception. The "Named Component" option is not visible in Block Controller because the device block requires an accompanying output device.

Solution | Workaround

To ensure the "Named Components" option appears in block controller for the device block, add a “generic HDMI display” block and wire it to the output of the decoder block. The “Named Components” option will then be present and access will then available to the decoder block controls.
