Tech Note | Q-SYS EASE Guide

Learn about Q-SYS GLL file updates for EASE software.

Updated at July 28th, 2025

Information

This article provides details of the Q-SYS gll files for EASE, EASE Address and EASE Focus.

The gll files are packaged together for convenience and may be downloaded from the PL Series product pages, or by clicking here.

MAX SPL Notice

Prior to the release of the PL Series, QSC aligned the maximum SPL values in the EASE GLL files with the Max SPL PEAK values listed in the product catalog.

Starting with version 4v01, and in accordance with EASE recommendations, we have updated the Max SPL values for all Q-SYS loudspeakers to ensure greater consistency across the product line.

All GLL files now reflect the Continuous RMS SPL, measured (or calculated for some distributed loudspeakers) using AES2 broadband pink noise, taken after 1 minute at 1 meter, and factoring in RMS protection.

Note

  • The stated Max SPL values apply to passive systems.
  • When operating in bi-amp mode, you can expect an approximate +2 dB increase in Max SPL.

PL Series in EASE Focus : Loudspeaker Gain & Delay Notice

To streamline the workflow and reduce the number of GLL files (one per model), we’ve adopted the line array template in EASE.

As a result, gain adjustments should be made using the DSP “Filter” view, rather than the Object Properties panel. Changes made in Object Properties will not affect individual object gains.

🔧 How to Adjust Gain in Filter View:

  1. Go to File > Options > Environment > Functionality and set it to Extended.
  2. In the lower right corner of the interface, click the double arrows to expand the Filter View.
  3. You can now edit the gain settings directly within this view.

PL-LA Series

Factor of Safety

Basic safety warnings are provided within the EASE software.

For definitive information regarding the Factor of Safety, always consult the Q-SYS PL-LA Series Rigging Guide or refer to the product’s User Manual.

Pull Back

The pull-back accessories (PL-LA8-PB, PL-LA12-PB) are not included in EASE simulation. They should be used when the Pinpoint 11 of the array frame does not allow reach to the desired Down Tilt. (See negative Delta near the Pinpoint drop list.) In this case, EASE won’t produce an accurate mechanical calculation as a part of the load supported by the pull-back.

Please refer to https://support.qsys.com/en_US/pl-la-series-rigging-guide for more information about pull-back use.

Deploying PL-SUB18 + PL-LA12-AF in the same array

Use the Setup  "Flown : PL-SUB18 + PL-LA12-AF" that allows an array of PL-SUB18 Cabinets (either PL-SUB18 or PL-SUB18 CARDIO -facing backward-).

Selecting the “Straight Link” (in the Cabinet drop list) will change the remaining Cabinets into PL-LA12s.

Crossover

The crossover is located within the filter settings. In EASE, a simplified 100 Hz crossover is implemented and labeled simply as “Crossover.”

For simulation purposes, acoustic results in Q-SYS are consistent whether using an 80 Hz, 100 Hz, or 125 Hz crossover.

Setup

Contains the following Setups (refer to the User Manual for detail).

  • Flown : PL-LA-AF Down Tilt
    • This configuration uses the Array Frame in its default position.

  • Flown : PL-LA-AF Up Tilt
    • This configuration uses the Array Frame in its reversed position allowing a larger up tilt.

  • Flown : PL-SUB18 + PL-LA12-AF
    • This Setup allows an array of PL-SUB18 Cabinets (either PL-SUB18 or PL-SUB18 CARDIO -facing backward-).
    • Selecting the “Straight Link” (in the Cabinet drop list) will change the remaining Cabinets into PL-LA12s.
  • Ground Stack : No SUB
    • Ground stacking of the PL-LA imply the use of the Array Frame upside down.
  • Ground Stack : SUB
    • Use the PL-SUB18 instead of the Array Frame. No Array Frame are needed as the PL-LA12 uses the integrated rigging of the PL-SUB18.
  • Flown : PL-SUB18 Column
    • Use this setting when wanting to deploy a column of PL-SUB18.

PL-CA Series

All PL-CA Models Included in a Single GLL.

PL-CA Alone

Use this configuration to deploy a single PL-CA loudspeaker. Select the appropriate loudspeaker model from the Cabinet list.

Flown Configuration: PL-SUB15 + PL-CA12

Set up a flown cluster consisting of one PL-SUB15 (with its suspension frame) and a single PL-CA12.

  • When using the slot of the PL-CA12-LK link, the PL-CA12 angle can be adjusted from -5° to +40°.
  • When using the hole of the PL-CA12-LK link, the PL-CA12 is fixed at a 26° downward tilt.

Refer to the user manual for detailed mounting instructions.

Flown Configuration: PL-SUB15 Alone

Deploy a single PL-SUB15 using the PL-CA15-AF suspension frame.

Note

While physically supported, stacking the PL-CA12 on top of the PL-SUB15 is not yet implemented in the GLL. In such cases, please deploy each loudspeaker independently.

Other PL-SUBs are available in the PL-SUB GLL.
