Quick Start | Q-SYS Connect for Microsoft Teams Rooms

Learn how to quickly set up and optimize Q-SYS Connect for seamless integration with Microsoft Teams Rooms.

Updated at May 8th, 2026

Overview

For Windows-based Microsoft Teams Rooms, Q-SYS Connect allows system designers and AV/IT administrators to enable Q-SYS Control integration. This replaces the legacy Q-SYS Control for MTR application and introduces new features such as built-in device discovery for more seamless integration into Q-SYS designs.

Note

With the release of Q-SYS Designer 10.2, the Microsoft Teams Room (MTR) component has been moved to Discontinued status. This change aligns with our transition to Q-SYS Connect.  In addition to enabling the TSC-101-G3 controller as a certified Zoom Room Controller, the Q-SYS Connect application bundles in the Q-SYS Control for Microsoft Teams room application enabling room controls integrations for Windows based MTR systems.

The MTR component is planned for deprecation at a later date, it is recommended that new designs migrate to uses the new functionality for Microsoft Teams Rooms integration found within the Q-SYS Connect application.  Until the MTR component is fully deprecated, customers may still use the Q-SYS Control for Microsoft Teams Rooms application with the component.

Q-SYS Connect will be fully available in the 10.3 release.

The legacy MTR component will continue to be active for use cases currently not supported under the current Q-SYS Connect implementation.

System Requirements

Hardware

  • Q-SYS Core processor
  • Certified Microsoft Teams Rooms for Windows compute device
  • PC with Q-SYS Designer 10.3 or later installed
  • Ethernet switch

Compute Device

A compute device with the minimum specifications below is required.

  • Intel Core i5 (11th Gen or later) CPU
  • 16 GB RAM

Software

  • Q-SYS Connect software (latest version)
  • Q-SYS Designer (latest version)

Network

Q-SYS Connect can be used in both converged or isolated network topologies.

In an isolated network, it is recommended that an approved USB-Ethernet adapter is used if the compute device does not have integrated dual network interfaces.

The recommended USB-Ethernet adapter is the Lenovo 4X90S91831.

In a converged network, the single network interface of the compute device must share a common network with one of the Core's network interfaces.

Note

  • At this time, Q-SYS Connect supports Core network connection with the MTR compute via LAN A. If a LAN B connection is required for your system, continue using the legacy MTR component.
  • If QDP is blocked on the customer network, the legacy MTR component should also be continued to be used.

Support for LAN A and B connections is planned for a future Q-SYS Connect update.

Setup | Installation

MTR Compute Device

  1. Download Q-SYS Connect to the MTR-W compute device.
  2. As an Administrator user, open the installer.
  3. Select Microsoft Teams Rooms

  1. After installation completes, launch the Q-SYS Connect Task Bar application (should be available in taskbar).
  2. Set the network name (to be used by Q-SYS) and select the appropriate network adapter.

This is the name that will be used in the Q-SYS design to associate the Q-SYS Connect component with Microsoft Teams Rooms compute device plugin application which hosts the Q-SYS UCI functionality.

For Q-SYS Designer

  1. Open Q-SYS Designer Software.
  2. Go to Inventory > Control > Other.
  3. Double click Q-SYS Connect to add the component.
  4. Specify the Name of the component to match the name given in the Q-SYS Connect application running on the MTR-W compute device.
  5. Set the Room Type property to Microsoft Teams Rooms

  1. Assuming the remainder of your design is complete, you make compile and deploy the design now.
