FAQ | When should I use static routes with Q-SYS?
Discover when is the best time to leverage static routes within the Q-SYS system and how they can help your workflow.
Answer
Static Routes apply only to Q-SYS device configurations. Use static routes to specify a custom gateway to reach devices on other subnets.
Note
Static routes do not assist with device discovery between the Q-SYS Core processor and peripherals, as discovery is a multicast function on behalf of the Core. The OS doesn’t even consider these routes unless there’s broadcast/unicast traffic to route to other subnets.
For examples and more information about routing in Q-SYS, refer to the Addressing & Routing topic in Q-SYS Help.
