Awareness | Zoom input cancels pink noise

Updated at May 31st, 2024

Information

While pink noise is typically used for testing signal flow in a system, it does not offer accurate information when testing on a Zoom system. Often, you will notice that the generator output shows signal, while the input for the Zoom software shows none. This is due to the noise cancelation functions of the software. The pink noise is perceived as a constant background noise, similar to HVAC or other room noise, and is filtered out. It is recommended to use a different audio source to test signal flow in this case.
