Awareness | Core 8 Flex / Core Nano LAN Controller Update

Updated at August 14th, 2024

Information

Because of a component discontinuation, Core 8 Flex and Core Nano processors that shipped after approximately June 2024 contain a motherboard revision that uses an upgraded LAN controller. These units require firmware version 9.10 or higher.

How to identify Cores with the updated controller

The simplest method to identify the motherboard revision is to check the plastic that houses the Ethernet RJ45 connectors. The plastic of the old motherboard’s connectors is black while the plastic of the new motherboard’s connectors is blue, as shown below.

If your connectors are blue, you must use firmware version 9.10 or higher.

Downgrade notice

To avoid network communication problems or instability with Q-LAN, Dante, or AES67, do not downgrade these upgraded units to a version earlier than v9.10.x. If you have already downgraded, we recommend upgrading the firmware back to version 9.10 or later.
